Injury, Pain, Muscle Strain, Tendon or Ligament lesions or tears?

Physical Therapy Session
Chiropractic Treatment

We can assess and treat conditions that affect the joints, muscles, tendons and bones:

  • Osteoarthritis:  a degenerative joint disease characterized by the breakdown of joint cartilage, leading to pain and reduced mobility. Physiotherapy treatments may include range of motion exercises, strength training to support the joint, and pain management techniques.

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: an autoimmune disorder causing joint inflammation, pain, and deformities. Physiotherapy focuses on maintaining joint function through exercises, manual therapy, and pain relief strategies.

  • Joint Replacements: surgical procedure to replace damaged joints, like hips or knees, with artificial ones. Physiotherapy must follow to regain strength, mobility, and function. Treatments include gait training, joint mobilizations, and gradual progression of exercises.

  • Fractures: after the immobilisation, followed by physiotherapy to regain strength and mobility. Treatment may involve gentle range of motion exercises, weight-bearing progressions, and functional retraining.

  • Ligament Tears: injury to a ligament connecting bones, often occurring in knees or ankles. Physiotherapy for ligament tears includes progressive strengthening exercises, stability training, and bracing or taping for support. For example, an ACL tear may involve exercises to restore knee stability.

  • Muscle Tears/Strains: Overstretching or tearing of muscle fibers, causing pain and weakness. Treatment for muscle tears or strains includes rest, gentle stretching, and progressive strengthening exercises. Physiotherapists may use techniques like ultrasound therapy to aid healing.

  • Tendonitis/Tendinopathy:  Inflammation or degeneration of tendons, often in areas like the Achilles or rotator cuff. Physiotherapy for tendon issues focuses on eccentric strengthening exercises, stretching, and modalities like ultrasound or electrical stimulation to reduce pain and inflammation.

  • Frozen Shoulder: Pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint due to thickening of the shoulder capsule. Physiotherapy aims to improve shoulder mobility through gentle stretching exercises, manual therapy, and heat therapy to reduce stiffness and pain.

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Compression of the wrist's median nerve, leading to hand numbness and weakness. Physiotherapy involves nerve gliding exercises, posture correction, and ergonomic recommendations to relieve pressure on the median nerve in the wrist.

  • Scoliosis: Abnormal spine curvature. Physiotherapy focuses on improving posture and strengthening muscles to support the spine. Exercises and bracing may be used, especially in growing adolescents.

  • Spinal Conditions: Various disorders affecting the spine, such as herniated discs.Treatment depends on the specific condition but may include exercises, manual therapy, and postural correction techniques to alleviate pain and improve function.

  • Ankylosing Spondylitis: A chronic inflammatory disease primarily affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints. Physiotherapy includes exercises to maintain spinal flexibility, posture correction, and deep breathing techniques to manage symptoms.

  • Spondylolisthesis: Displacement of one vertebra over another, usually in the lower back. Physiotherapy aims to strengthen core muscles to stabilize the spine, along with exercises to improve flexibility and reduce pain.

  • Stress Fractures: Tiny cracks in bones from repetitive stress, often seen in athletes. Physiotherapy involves gradual progression of weight-bearing activities, gait analysis, and addressing any underlying biomechanical issues contributing to the fracture.

  • Tennis/Golfer's Elbow: Tendon inflammation near the elbow, causing pain during gripping. Treatment includes stretching, fascial manipulation and strengthening exercises, as well as modalities like ultrasound therapy to reduce pain and inflammation.

  • Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation of the foot's plantar fascia, resulting in heel pain. Physiotherapy focuses on stretching and strengthening the foot and calf muscles, as well as gait analysis and orthotic recommendations.

  • Bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae (fluid-filled sacs) near joints, causing pain. Physiotherapy includes exercises to improve joint stability and reduce inflammation, along with modalities like ice or ultrasound therapy.

  • Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: Pain around the kneecap due to issues like overuse or misalignment. Treatment involves strengthening exercises for the quadriceps and hip muscles, patellar taping, and gait analysis to reduce knee pain.

  • Osteoporosis: A condition characterized by weakened bones, increasing the risk of fractures. Physiotherapy includes weight-bearing exercises, balance training, and posture exercises to improve bone health and reduce the risk of fractures.

  • Hip Impingement: Abnormal contact between the hip joint's ball and socket, causing pain and limited motion. Physiotherapy aims to improve hip joint mobility and stability through exercises, manual therapy, and activity modification.

  • Peripheral Nerve Entrapments: Compression of nerves, leading to pain, tingling, or numbness. Physiotherapy involves nerve gliding exercises, soft tissue mobilization, and postural correction to relieve nerve compression.

  • Postural Problems: Abnormal body alignment often resulting from poor habits. Treatment includes postural education, exercises to strengthen weak muscles, and stretching tight muscles to correct alignment.

  • Foot and Ankle Injuries: Physiotherapy includes exercises, joint mobilizations, and modalities like ice or heat to promote healing and restore function.

  • TMJ Disorders: Physiotherapy can assist in managing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and associated jaw pain, neck pain, headache.

Mahela is one of the best physiotherapist I have been to. Her knowledge and expertise in physiotherapy and strength training is very very good. I have had neck spasms and cervical issue which are now resolved after sessions with her. I have improved mobility, flexibility and strength.
